UniSA Film and Television degree: RSP elective units
From 2018, second year Film and Television degree students will be able to choose two new 4.5 unit courses at the Adelaide studios of Rising Sun Pictures:
Study Period 2 – “Modelling and Texturing”
and
Study Period 5 – “Look Development and Lighting“
Each course is 3 hours per week / 12 weeks in duration. These courses will be taught by artists that have worked on movies like Thor: Ragnarok, Logan, Alien Covenant, X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Game of Thrones and Gravity.
UniSA lecturer in CGI for the Bachelor of Media Arts, Dr Josh McCarthy, says “the opportunity to work with some of the leading experts in the country as part of an undergraduate program is exceptional.”
“We’re excited about this collaboration because it will give our students experiential learning opportunities of the highest level, one that is sure to inspire them and fire up their creativity,” Dr McCarthy says.
Managing Director and co-founder at Rising Sun Pictures Tony Clark says he “hopes the partnership will encourage new generations of talented visual effects experts.”
“At Rising Sun Pictures we understand what it is to work hard to achieve something exceptional,” Clark says.
“It goes without saying that twenty years ago not many people would have imagined an internationally successful film industry business would be born in Adelaide.”
“Part of our role now should be about encouraging new talent in our home town. Through this partnership with UniSA we want to develop the creative talents of local students but also their belief in what is possible through enterprise and commitment.”
